We recently asked fans on Facebook to show us why they #loveNYC.

We received 1,900 outstanding submissions–from visitors and residents alike–showcasing the five boroughs we know and love.

A panel of judges selected 10 finalist photos from the entries, which were then put up to public voting on the City of New York’s Facebook page. And now (drumroll, please…) fans have voted and we have our winning photo by Milton Washington:

The photo will be featured on the City of New York’s Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube pages, and in Times Square, on Spectacolor HD on 1560 Broadway, provided by Clear Channel Spectacolor.

We also wanted to acknowledge our second place runner-up, Jamie Verderame:

and our third place runner-up, Robert Caputo:

Thank you to everyone who showed us why they #loveNYC and supported the contest with a share, tweet, like or vote. We will continue to share photos from the #loveNYC contest entries and we encourage you to participate in future contests on NYC Gov’s social media channels.

Lastly, we want to thank our judges for their time and for lending their digital and artistic expertise: Jen Bekman, Founder & CEO of 20x200; Mal Sherlock @Fashion photographer on Instagram; Rachel Sterne, NYC’s Chief Digital Officer, Spencer Tucker, Director of the Mayor’s Photography Unit at City Hall; and Willy Wong, Chief Creative Officer at NYC & Company.
